Summer Lunch Program
The free Summer Lunches for Children is Government funded and sponsored by the Rockmart Ministerial Association from June 10 - August 5. Our church is responsible for serving lunches on MONDAYS at the Houge Gym. We are organized into teams of 2-3 so teams work only a few weeks each. Service takes less than two hours from 11:15am - 1:15pm. Contact Susan Waters (770-256-6624 or 770-684-4969) or email.
A heartfelt “Thank You” to all of those who volunteered their time and resources to the success of this community outreach program.

Calling all seniors and their friends!
Prayer ministry meets in the sanctuary at 9:45am prior to Seniors on the Go. Come as we pray for our church and community. Then...
Come enjoy lunch and fellowship with your friends. Jean Coalson and George Anna Watson are heading up this ministry and they have many activities planned such as day trips and special programs at the church. Meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of the month. We will meet at 10:30 in the Fellowship Hall. They will visit, play games and have lunch.
Calling All Boy Scouts!
Troop meets Monday nights at 7:00 p.m. If you have a boy who is interested in Scouting, please contact Patrick or Heidi Bonito at 404-539-8992 or 770-354-0028 and they will provide you all the details.
This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of these young men’s lives. If you have a skill or talent that you would like to share with them, the troop needs people to help Scouts with merit badges. The RFUMC UMM are sponsoring this troop and the Rotary Club is establishing a scholarship program for boys who need uniforms, etc. This community partnership with Rockmart FUMC will make such a difference in the lives of these young people. Please welcome them when you have the opportunity.
Patrick and Heidi Bonito are doing a wonderful job heading up the Troop at the church. We routinely share the van with them so they can take the boys camping on the weekends. The boys have helped us with the community meal as well as other projects around the church. When you see any of them, please let them know how privileged we are to walk alongside them as these boys grow in leadership.

The ministerial association is opening a transition house for Polk County along with Action Ministries. The home will be for a family with children and the maximum time a family can stay is 2 years. The average stay is approximately 13-15 months. This home allows an indigent family to get back on their feet and support their family while giving them a stable place for their children. The parents are required to get a job.
Action ministries will provide financial counseling, job support, parenting skills, etc. Corporate support from the community along with church support is $8,000/year. The rest comes from Action ministries. The success rate for this program is 92% for the family to move on to success. A list of items needed to open this house will be in the narthex. The house will be opened this year and the money for the first year has already been received. We have lay representation on the strategic planning committee and are glad to be a part of this program. If you would like to know anything else about it, please contact Jimmy Jones.
To those who helped with the school summer lunch program...
Mary Jane Lumpkin & I were so moved the last day of the program when one of the children gave us a hand-made thank you cards. This is to all of those who helped serve lunches and Susan Waters who coordinated the effort again this summer. Laura Robinson
